The Jackets win over Burnet’s JV on Thursday night had a little extra sting as it also ended a two-game win streak for the Dawgs. The Bulldogs are 2-3 going into the break with wins over Fredericksburg and Crockett and losses to Reagan, Marble Falls, and Llano.

On Thursday night in Burnet Llano opened the game with a first quarter 43-yard rushing touchdown followed by a successful two-point conversion, 8-0.

They increased that lead in the second quarter with a 78-yard scoop and score fumble recovery and two-point conversion making it 16-0 early in the contest.

Burnet did answer before the break scoring on a 4-yard Ryan Jackson run and at the half it was 16-6, Llano.

In the third period the Jackets broke loose scoring from 29-yards out increasing their lead to 22-6.

Also in the third Burnet’s Jackson scored his second rushing touchdown of the night, this one from 1-yard out moving the board to 22-12 going into the final quarter.

Llano was the only team to find pay-dirt in the fourth. It came in the form of a 1-yard run and two-point conversion and when the final seconds ticked away Burnet found themselves on the short side of a 30-12 ball game.

The offense was led by the passing of Wyatt Young to receivers Cooper Cook, Alan Silva, Jackson, Bryce Schubert, and also the running of Jackson and Donavan Seiley.

The defense was led by Zach Ferguson, who had an interception, and Wesley Shepperd and Brandon Anderson.

The JV and freshman teams will have a bye this Thursday before 13-4A district play begins on Oct. 6 when the Dawgs host China Spring. Freshman B will play at 4:00 p.m. followed by freshman A at 5:30 p.m. and JV at 7:00 p.m.
