Mechler to meet with BCRW

Tom Mechler, chairman of Republican Party of Texas RPT, will be returning to address the Burnet County Republican Women (BCRW) at a meeting Thursday, Oct. 13, at 11:30 a.m. at the Sylvester Reed Building, 402 Jackson Street, in Burnet.

Mechler spoke to the group last fall to kick off the campaign season. He was elected to RPT chairmanship in March 2015 by the State Republican Executive Committee (SREC) to fulfill the unexpired term of Steve Munisteri. He has been politically involved for 30 years, serving more than four years as RPT treasurer and as a county Republican chairman for 12 years in three different locations.

In November 2005, Governor Rick Perry appointed Mechler to the Texas Board of Criminal Justice (TDCJ), where he served for nearly nine years, including five as the vice chairman.

A mechanical engineer formerly employed with ARCO, he now is president of Manna Services, Inc., a small oil & gas production company and consulting service to independent oil and gas producers in the Texas Panhandle.

He earned the BS Degree in mechanical engineering from Texas A&M University in 1980 and the MBA Degree in finance 1992 from Wharton School of Business. Mechler is a volunteer prison chaplain and he and his wife Becky reside on a ranch outside Amarillo. They have six children and 15 grandchildren.
