A funeral service was held on Saturday, Dec. 2, at Victory Baptist Church, Burnet. She was interred at Hoover Valley Cemetery.

Born Geraldine (“Gerri”) Hoover on March 26, 1941, in San Angelo, Texas to Edgar Dunn and Frances Bird, she was one of 5 children. She spent her childhood with brothers George, Harold, and Richard Dunn, along with her dear sister Carol. After high school she worked for the telephone company in San Angelo and then moved to Austin, working for the telephone company there as well. She met the love of her life, James Hoover Sr., in Burnet while visiting family on the weekends.

Gerri and James were married on October 7, 1961, in San Angelo, and established their family in Burnet. Gerri and James had three sons, Curt born in Burnet in 1963. A short while later they moved to Colorado where James pastored a church there. Tony was born in 1966, while they lived in Colorado. After they moved back to Burnet, Andy was born in 1971 in Burnet, daughter Jenifer was born in 1973 in Burnet. Because of their huge hearts, love of family and their faith in God, their family grew larger with Sonia born 1982, Vanessa born 1984, and Monique born 1989.

Gerri and James lived on a farm in Burnet, and really enjoyed vacationing with their kids while visiting friends in Colorado. Gerri worked as a Pre-K teacher in Marble Falls until February when she was diagnosed with leukemia, and she was very active in her church. Because of her love of crocheting and knitting, many family members received a baby blanket from her. She also felt the need to capture every moment by taking videos and pictures of every occasion. Gerri also loved visiting her family and friends in San Angelo. She spent many of her summers at Pot of Gold youth camp in Comfort, Texas, as camp nurse. She dedicated her life to God and her family, which made her a pastor’s wife for more than 50 years. She enjoyed attending her children’s school activities and she loved the holidays, especially spending Thanksgiving with James’ family in Burnet and Christmas in San Angelo with her family.
