Charlye Ruth Henderson, 90, — wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, precious friend to all — died on Feb. 24, 2018, at Seton Medical Center Williamson. She lived fully, just celebrating her 90th birthday.

Charlye Ruth was born on Nov. 23, 1927, and grew up in Bay City, Texas. She married the love of her life, Harvey Joyce “Mert” Henderson, in 1947, and they lived happily together for 64 years.

Charlye Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Mert Henderson. She is survived by her daughter Marsha Prather; her son Harvey Joyce “Jay” Henderson Jr. and his wife Rhonda; her grandsons Michael Prather and his wife Tammy and Matthew “Matt” Prather and his wife Erika; and her granddaughters Jenny Carpenter and her husband Cody, Jill Maxfield and her husband David and Jana Smith and her husband Kevin. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren – Kyle, Colin, Jarred, Jacob and his wife Alyssa, Miranda, Nicolas, Marissa, Corie, Katelyn, Sadie, Lincoln, and Madigan.

Charlye Ruth’s father and mother, Charles and Vivian Marshall, her only brother, Jim Marshall, and son-in-law, Michael “Mike” Prather, also preceded her in death.

Charlye Ruth loved life. She loved the Lord. She found true joy in any circumstance and lavished love on all those she encountered. She will be sorely missed on this earth but greatly celebrated in Heaven; her voice will resound in the angel’s choir. We will see you soon Nannie.

Visitation will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home on Wednesday, Feb. 28, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held at Cook-Walden/Capital Parks Funeral Home on Thursday, March 1, at 10 a.m., followed by a graveside committal service.

The family asks that you recognize God’s presence in everything, cherish every moment with those you love, and show Jesus’ love to everyone as Charlye Ruth did every day of her life.
