Gerald Lee Boring

April 14, 1932 — February 28, 2018

Gerald Lee Boring, 85, joined our heavenly Father at home in Kingsland on the morning of Feb. 28, 2018. He was born April 14, 1932, in Austin to parents Bessie and James Eric Boring.

He was preceded in death by parents, brothers Marvin and Bud Boring, sister Hazel and first wife Daris, whose union of 44 years was loving and very happy.

The Boring and Tate families were longtime friends growing up in church for many years and during that time Daris and Frances developed a strong friendship. After the losses of their respective spouses and having to travel the same journey, Frances and Gerald were married on March 16, 1996. They enjoyed a wonderful life together until the time of his passing.

Family and friends were important to Gerald and he loved spending time with them and get togethers were a strong highlight for him.

Gerald worked in stone and rock masonry, laid sheet metal, and was a barber for 38 years. He loved NASCAR, football, western movies, country and gospel music, dominoes and fishing.

Gerald is survived by his wife Frances of Kingsland; brother Philip Boring and wife Betty of Kingsland; sister Jean Inman of Austin; children Sandra Farr and husband Edwin of Taylor, Mary Sue Lambeth and husband Rick of Jarrell, Dinny Smith and husband Ricky of Pflugerville, Chris Tate and wife Louise of Highland Haven, Cindy Nichols and husband Greg of Kerrville, and Susan Monroe and husband Mark of Rockdale. Gerald is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and eight great great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for family and friends will be held Friday, March 2, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 3, at 11 a.m. at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet. Burial will be at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 4, at McKnight Cemetery in Cushing.

Officiating will be Bro. Russell Zingg and music provided by Carson Monroe and Philip Boring. Serving as pallbearers are Ricky Smith, Edwin Farr, Mark Monroe, Chris Tate, Greg Nichols, Bobby Williamson, Philip Boring, Craig Inman, and Philip Boring Jr. Honorary pallbearers are James E. Harrison Jr., Jerry Harrison, Brandon Harrison, Brian Courtney, Joshua Courtney, Chris Shelton, Brandon Tate, Cody Nichols, Cory Nichols, Carson Monroe, and Colby Monroe.
