Kenneth Ross

Kenneth Ross passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at the age of 87 in Burnet. He was born on March 6, 1931, to Eula Annie Greer and William Malcom Ross in Roscoe, before they relocated to Bertram, where Kenneth attended elementary and high school. After graduating from Bertram High, Kenneth went to work at San Marcos Baptist Academy while attending Southwest Texas State Teachers College (currently known as Texas State). While working at San Marcos Baptist Academy, he met the love of his life Elda Jo de Clermont whom he married on June 14, 1952, and enlisted with the United States Navy 14 days later. During their marriage Kenneth and Elda Jo had three children: Valerie (Chris), Kenneth (Bub), and Kimberli (Kimmy). He also welcomed his wife’s niece, Wanda Michelle, as part of their family.

Kenneth left active duty and went into the Naval Reserve and achieved the rank of Commander when he retired from the Reserve. He also worked for the University of Texas in Austin as Vice President to the Dean of Graduate School Studies for 30 years.

Kenneth lived life to fullest. He loved to travel and go dancing with his wife at the Balcones Country Club, and was an avid golf player. He was a devoted family man as well as a good friend to many.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, sister Laverne Lucas Haas, brother Edsel Ross, and granddaughter Sabrina D. Stark.

Kenneth is survived by his wife Elda Jo; his three children, Valerie C. Vasquez and husband Garry, Kenneth M. Ross and wife Angie, and Kimberli A. Johnston and husband Greg. Also surviving are grandsons Jeremy Ross, Jake Bledsoe and wife Kyrie, and Kenny Bledsoe and wife Sarah and three great grandchildren Charlotte, Wyatt, and Ace. He is also survived by his sister Mary Jo Ross as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A visitation for family and friends was held Thursday, March 29, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. A celebration of life was held Friday, March 30, at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home. Interment with military honors followed at Bear Creek Cemetery in Bertram.
