Lestell Lee Johns Floyd

January 3, 1925 – June 8, 2018

Lestel Lee Johns Floyd of Liberty Hill, Texas left this world on June 8, 2018 to be with her Lord and beloved husband Tommy. Her departure occurred exactly seventeen years, to the day, after Tommy's death.

Lestel was born on January 3, 1925 to Elmer Claude and Fannie Bell Mitchell Johns in Liberty Hill, Texas. She was the oldest daughter of their twelve children. She married Thomas Edward Floyd on April 17, 1945 in Georgetown, Texas after he recovered from wounds suffered in France during World War II. They lived in or near Liberty Hill all of their lives and were happily married for fifty-six years until his death on June 8, 2001.

She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker as well as an excellent cook. She warmly welcomed everyone into her home and soon after their arrival she would ask if they were hungry. No matter the response, she often insisted they eat anyway. Being a tiny woman, people were amazed by her strengths: physical, mental and spiritual. She had an unshakable faith, reading her Bible every day as long as her eyesight allowed. She trusted in the Lord to see her through hardships, illnesses and injuries of which there were many during her 93 years.

Lestel was preceded in death by her husband, Tommy, her parents, seven brothers, and two sisters. She is survived by her children: son, Thomas (Butch) and wife, Cindy; daughter, Gloria and husband, Billy Allen; and son, Roy and friend Dianne. She is also survived by four grandchildren and their spouses, eight great-grandchildren and two sisters.

She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.

The family wishes to thank Oaks Nursing Center of Burnet and Texas Home Health/Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they provided. Their support and kindness are deeply appreciated.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 13, 2018 at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home in Georgetown. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. She will be laid to rest at Hopewell Cemetery in Liberty Hill.
