Clayton D. Lester, 95, passed away on July 1, 2018. A graveside service was held Tuesday, July 3, at Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mr. Lester grew up on his parent’s ranch in Oatmeal and graduated from Oatmeal High School. He fell in love with Pauline and the two were married. Soon after, he was drafted into the Army and was inducted on Valentine’s Day in 1944. Mr. Lester honorably served the country in the United States Army in France and Germany under the Gen. George S. Patton. He courageously earned the Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. Upon his discharge, he returned to the Bertram Area where he worked for Burnet County Precinct 3 for a short time then spent nearly 70 years as a rancher. Mr. Lester was well known and will be missed by his family and many friends.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Lester; parents, Jessie and Lonora Lester, Lonora’s sisters, Helen, Mildred and Ruby Nell.

He is survived by his son, Danny Lester; daughter’s, Darnell Morris and husband Junior, Sandra Schwartz and husband, Walter; grandchildren, Todd Morris and wife Jessica, Blake Morris, Nicole Klinkseik and husband Earl, Christy Murrison and husband Paul, Bob and Dewain; great grand-children, Jaycee, Will, Aiden, Conley, Dax, Case and A.J.; several nephews and a niece.

Arrangements under the care of Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
