Henry Glenn Smith, 88, of Truth or Consequences, New Mexico, passed away suddenly in the hospital in New Mexico on Aug. 12, 2018.

A graveside memorial service will be held at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park, located on Park Road 4 in Burnet, Texas, on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., officiated by longtime friend Henry Chidgey.

Glenn was born Feb. 22, 1930, in Cardwell, Texas, to Henry Milton and Iva Lee (McCarty) Smith. He married his loving wife Lee 43 years ago on Sept. 5, 1975, in Carlsbad, New Mexico. Glenn and the love of his life, Lee, lived in Roswell, New Mexico, until 1984 when they moved to Burnet, Texas. Glenn worked at Estes’s International Harvester in Roswell for 19 years.

After moving to Burnet, Glenn worked for the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District as a mechanic and school bus driver until his retirement in May 1995. In March 2017, Glenn and Lee moved to Truth or Consequences to be closer to their families. Glenn loved fishing, camping and spending time with his family. He always had a smile and a joke. His laughter, smile and big hugs will be missed by all.

Glenn is survived by his wife of 43 years, Lee Smith; son Randy and wife Pam Smith of Truth or Consequences; granddaughter Amanda Smith of Rio Rancho, New Mexico; grandson Wesley Smith of Truth or Consequences; daughter Cindy and husband John McCready of Natchez, Mississippi, along with grandchildren Melisa and Allen; daughter Roseann and husband Kim Geron of Decatur, Texas, along with grandchildren Ben, Ashley and Brittany; daughter Gail and Husband Kenneth Parker of Rio Rancho; granddaughter Shannon and husband Bryce Van Gilst of Oskaloosa, Iowa; granddaughter Kandis and husband Leonard Gomez of Rio Rancho; grandson Johnny and wife Candice Parker of San Angelo, Texas; daughter Carol and husband Fred Lockwood of Austin; granddaughter Michelle and husband Gary Dolch of Austin; and grandson Shawn and wife Kezia Solsbery of Austin.

Glenn had 15 brothers and sisters and 10 siblings still survive him. They are: sister Jewel Anderson of Houston; sister Wanda Manning of Forney, Texas; brother Paul Smith of Forney; sister Judy Landry of Peoria, Arizona; sister Linda Atchison of Forney; sister Elaine and husband Steve Goetze of Scottsdale, Arizona; sister Sandy and husband Art Lawien of Peoria; brother Mark Smith of Humble, Texas; sister Karen Noble of Colorado Springs, Colorado; and sister Kathy Conrad of Forney;

Glenn has 12 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were his father, Henry Melton Smith; mother, Ida Lee (McCarty) Smith; stepmother, Wilma (Huggins) Smith Nease; twin brother, Milton Lyndon Smith; brother, Winchell Darrell Smith; brother, Cornelius Chastain Smith; brother, Herman Leon Smith; and brother Albert Mitchel Smith.
