Nellie Mae Cook Baker died Sept. 28, 2018, at Scott and White Hospital in Temple at age 96.
She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Kempner, Texas, and was raised there by parents Frank and Texie (Grizzle) Cook. Nellie had lived most of her life in Lampasas County and later in Burnet. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Lampasas and a life member of the VFW Auxiliary. She worked as a nurse’s aide for a number of years.
She is survived by her children, Jay Meyer, Priscilla Luetkenhoelter and husband Wayne, Loretta Collins and husband John, and Olivia Meyer; nieces, Hedy Heugatter and Carolyn Franks; grandchildren, Michelle Meyer, Samantha Sparks, John Melancon, Danny Brown and Tamara Hamm (Scott); nine great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, husband Bill Baker, grandson and great-grandson.

Graveside funeral service was held Oct. 3, at 11 a.m. at Kempner Cemetery.
Sneed Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
