The Bulldog and Lady Bulldog soccer teams have been hard at work preparing for district play and the time is now near. The Dawgs will be competing in District 27-4A which plays host to Burnet, Lampasas, Liberty Hill, Salado, Florence, Jarrell, and Little River Academy.

The Lady Bulldog team has been going through some growing pains in addition to fighting through injuries to some top players. The girls, who are sitting at 2-9 on the season, have picked up wins over Cole and Allan College Prep. They most recently lost to Marble Falls and China Spring. They have high hopes that their senior leaders will be able to return to play soon and that they will be able to make a nice run in their district competition.

On the boys side the Dawgs lost to Hutto 3-0 in a JV/Varsity mix game, and then fell to La Vernia’s varsity at home on Tuesday, 4-1.

“These were both hard fought games, and our goalie, Ramiro Delgado, had several great saves for us,” said coach Bryan Robinson. “Although we did not get the wins we are showing great improvement game to game in preparation for district play.”

Luis Chavez scored the only goal against La Vernia, off a great pass by Jose Salazar late in the second half.

Eduardo Medina, Jose Flores, and Ruben Rodriguez had several shots on the goal throughout both games.

Defensively Dylan Stroh, Diego Escamilla, Grishma Pun, Isaac Sanchez, and Jacob Howard continue to improve as well throughout non-district play.

Both Bulldog teams will open district play on Friday, Feb. 1 at Little River Academy.
