d. December 28, 2018

Joanne Marie Paul Terway, 78, of Burnet, Texas, passed away peacefully on Dec. 28, 2018. Joanne’s strong will to live, unwavering faith in God, and the love and prayers of family, friends, and many supporters carried her through while she fought many different forms of cancer throughout her life.

Joanne was born and raised in Mahnomen, Minnesota and graduated from Mahnomen High School in 1958. She worked for many years for Mahnomen County, Minnesota, first as Deputy Treasurer, then as Deputy Auditor. In 1973, Joanne was elected to the position of Mahnomen County Auditor, and held that position until she resigned to move to Texas. Joanne worked for many years in Texas for an insurance agent, specializing in annuities, until her retirement.

She loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. Joanne’s presence made life easier for everyone around her. She enjoyed cooking, antiquing, and garage sales. Joanne was known to have at least two of everything.

She was predeceased by her parents, A.J. and Mary Paul; her son, Chad; and her infant son that died at birth; and two brothers, Ray and Terry.

She is survived by daughter-in-law, Barbara; and grandchildren, Joseph, Crystal, Justin, Christina, and Alex Terway. She is also survived by her brother, George (Peg) Paul; sisters, Marcy Peterson, Carol (Pat) Mulcahy, and many loyal and caring friends.

The memorial mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 1927 Ranch Road 1431, Kingsland. Reverend Father Uche Evaristus Obikwelu will preside over the mass. Refreshments will follow at Lee Hall after the mass. Another service will be held in Minnesota at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to The Christi Center, 2306 Hancock Dr., Austin, TX 78756 or the charity of your choice. The Christi Center provides free, ongoing grief support services to anyone who has lost a loved one. Joanne and her grandkids were active in The Christi Center after the loss of Chad.

We will miss our Dear Nana. Her memory and her love are in each of us – the lives she touched by her love.
