Bluebonnet Festival will bloom soon in Burnet

This year’s State of the Community was a huge success.  If you didn’t make it, save the date on your calendar for next year.  It’s typically on a Wednesday in early March. Watch the Chamber website (burnetchamber.org) and/or the City website (cityofburnet.com) for details.

One of the next activities on your calendar should be the Bluebonnet Festival, April 11-14, 2019.  Activities begin in the week preceding the festival with the carnival opening for Wrist Band/Family Night on Thursday, April 11.  The Kiwanis pancake breakfast 6 am to 1 pm on the 12th, followed by a myriad of activities not the least of which is the Highland Lakes Birding and Wildflower Show 2-5 pm, the pet parade, and live music.  Arts and Crafts booths will be open beginning Friday at 2 pm. And that’s just the beginning. Saturday and Sunday continue the activities with everything from a Fun Run, Kid K, 5k and 10k runs to continuous entertainment, to a car show on the banks of Hamilton Creek, to shoot-outs by the Burnet Gun Fighters and of course the rubber ducky race, wiener dog races, and the fabulous Bluebonnet Parade.  The events are numerous and continuous throughout the weekend. Go online to bluebonnetfestival.org for a full schedule.  And of course, the event’s namesake, the Bluebonnet, should put on a tremendous show all across the hill country this year as well.  Hope to see you there!
