Wanda Marie Hutson Cox, 97, passed away on March 24, 2019.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 Friday, March 29 at First Baptist Church in Burnet with interment to follow at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday evening at Edgar & Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.

Wanda was born in Gustine, Texas on Jan. 28, 1922 to Luther and Katheryn Hutson, both deceased.  She was raised in San Antonio, Texas, and during her early years, she taught tap dancing to children in San Antonio, Burnet and, Itazuke, Japan.  On December 31, 1945 she married John D. Cox in Danville, Illinois.  They then spent the next 20 years in the Air Force traveling from base to base including a three year stay in Japan.

John retired in 1960 and they moved to Burnet.  They remained married for 74 years until her death on March 24, 2019.  She was a lifelong member of First Baptist Church in Burnet.

Wanda loved dancing, music, traveling, and her many cats and dogs during her lifetime.

She is survived by her husband, John of Burnet; daughters, Sharyn Opbroek (Mike) of Highland Village, Texas and Linda Pack (John) of Bertram, Texas; two grandchildren, David Wilson of Arlington and Missy Barrington of Baytown; four great-grandchildren, Adam Wilson, Mara Wilson, Scott Barrington, and Brooke Barrington.

Wanda is also survived by her sister, Wanita Thying; niece, Kay Cude; and nephew, Lee Thying, all from Burnet; as well as many cousins.

Arrangements under the care of Jenkins Funeral Home, Burnet, Texas.
