Ruth Evelyn Bristow

Ruth Evelyn Bristow, 79, passed away Aug. 31, 2019. She was born May 10, 1940, in Missouri to Lloyd Rylie Rhea and Ruby Amanda Furlong Rhea.

Ruth spent her childhood and growing up in Egypt, Arkansas and graduated there in 1958. After high school she moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked as a secretary in a bank. Later she moved back to Arkansas where she worked and then met her future husband Ray. She always told the story she and Ray met while working in the field picking cotton.

In 1973 she and the family moved to Burnet. For many years people will remember her working at Bill’s Dollar Store. Ruth was a longtime member of the Northside Baptist Church in Burnet and loved to sing and play the guitar. She will be remembered for her dedication to her husband and family.

Ruth is survived by her five children, Tony Bristow, Michael Bristow, Angela Heim, Cindy Weinand, and Randy Bristow; nine grandchildren, Tosh, Josh, Amber, Seth, Dusty, Keleigh, Tracy, Leland, and Dez. Also surviving are nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Mildred Davis and Dorothy Blevins; and brothers, Glenn Rhea, Harold Rhea, and Jimmy Rhea. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Ray in 1984, as well as other brothers and sisters.

A graveside service for Ruth was held Thursday morning, Sept. 5, 2019, at 10 a.m. at Lakeland Hills Memorial Park.
