Buchanan Arts Guild promotes local talent

Encouraging new and returning artists to express their creativity, the Buchanan Arts and Crafts Gallery hosts various painting classes at their location along State Highway 29 in Buchanan Dam, including oil painting, watercolor, and an open painting class every Wednesday.

If there is one thing the Highland Lakes can boast, it is the multitude of artists that can be found residing in and sharing their work with their community.

At the Buchanan Arts and Crafts Gallery, much can be said for local talent, whose artwork and crafts are displayed with pride, and have been for over 50 years.

“The Guild was started in the 1960's by ladies who wanted to get together and paint while their husbands went fishing,” said Guild president Becky Carlberg. “The original ladies actually bought this building in the 1970's with money they saved up from bake sales they had hosted over the years. . . ."
