Police probe woman's death

Texas Rangers are investigating the death of a Silver Creek woman who was reported missing by the Burnet County Sheriff's and found dead on the same day in Burnet, authorities confirmed.

According to the Burnet County Sheriff's Office, the body of Nancy Lord, 75, was found Jan. 10 in the city of Burnet. BCSO had posted a missing person alert the same day at the behest of family members.

Authorities said the woman – who reportedly suffered from dementia – had taken up temporary residency at the La Vista Motel, in the 500 block of Texas 29 in Burnet, the BCSO alert revealed.

She told BCSO investigators that she was attempting to spend some time alone away from family. An alert about reports of her being missing stated that she was last seen leaving the motel on Jan. 6 on foot.

Officials say the cause of death is currently “undetermined.”

On Jan. 14, Burnet Police Department officials commented that more details are pending because the incident is under investigation.
