BCISD Trustees ponder separate bond propositions

Burnet CISD trustees were given a report on a possible May bond election at their meeting held Monday, Jan. 20 at the BCISD Central Office. The main concern among administration is the growing student population, specifically at Bertram Elementary School, which makes passing a bond crucial to meet the needs brought on by the growth.

“Bertram Elementary, with a capacity of 450 students, has grown 32 students since August from 371 to 403, and the July 2019 demographic study did not project Bertram Elementary's enrollment being at 403 students until 2022,” said superintendent Keith McBurnett. “A bond election will need to be held sooner than later just to accommodate student growth needs at Bertram Elementary and to avoid the addition of portable buildings. . . ."
