Mary Helen Cottrell

February 1, 1943 — January 6, 2020

Mary Helen Cottrell, 76, of Burnet, passed away Jan. 6, 2020. Mary was born Feb. 1, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Frank and Mary Cendrowski. She attended the Assumption Catholic Church in Houston.

Mary was a homemaker for most of her life, but did work as a nurse and in home health. She worked at Thunderbird Lodge in Burnet for many years, until she moved to live with and care for her mother in Harwood, Texas.

Mary enjoyed fishing, cooking, gardening, and gambling, and was dearly loved by her family and friends and well-liked in her subdivision and community. She was creative, smart, witty, deeply loving, caring, giving, independent, and strong.

Mary is survived by her children, Robert and Debbie Cottrell of Burnet, Debbie and Terry Kircus of Burnet, and Rhonda and Jason Buchanan of Burnet; ten grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Cottrell; daughter, Donna Cornelius; sister, Frances Ingram; and her pet, Andre.

Memorial services for Mary will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 24 at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church, 507 Buchanan Drive, Burnet. A reception will follow immediately at Thunderbird Lodge, 200 Greenwood Hills Trail, Burnet.
