2020 Bluebonnet Festival canceled over COVID-19 concerns

One fixture of the Bluebonnet Festival involved parades in the downtown square featuring community leaders, school groups, nonprofit entities and merchants. Due to the coronavirus scare, the Burnet Chamber of Commerce opted to cancel the event which was scheduled for the second week in April.

The Burnet Chamber of Commerce announced late Tuesday, March 17, the cancelation of the Burnet Bluebonnet Festival for the first time in the event's 37-year history.

Chamber officials made the announcement on their Facebook page and said the decision to cancel the April 10-12 event came at the recommendation of the Burnet County Health Authority and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to not hold large gatherings in an effort to slow the spread of the COVID-19 virus. …
