Kenneth E. Jackson

Kenneth E. Jackson, 88, of Burnet, passed away April 9, 2019. He was born Dec. 9, 1930 to James A. Jackson and Bernice Earp Jackson in Weinert.

Ken retired from Southern Pacific Railway in El Paso. He moved to Burnet in 1990.

Ken had a large and loving family; family gatherings and reunions were his favorite times. His kindness touched so many lives. His home was always welcoming and he always had a smile on his face.

Ken is preceded in death by his parents; son, James Richard "Ricky" Jackson; daughter, Kenna Lynne Jackson; and grandson, Jeremey David Jackson.

Barbara Smith

January 1, 1955 — March 21, 2019

In loving memory of Barbara Smith, of Bertram, who passed away on March 21, 2019. She was born on Jan. 1, 1955 in Germany to Walter and Eugenia Zich Wallace.

She is survived by her son, Tommy Smith Jr. and wife Janet; three grandchildren, Tommy, Brittany and Christina; one great-granddaughter, Paisley; mother, Eugenia Lloyd; sisters, Heidi May, Brenda Brown and husband Steve, sister-in-law Laura Wallace; brother, Dennis Wallace and wife Lisa; nieces and nephews, Genia, Jason, Ginger, Kevin, Bryan and Sara; and her best friend Wanda Hiner.

Barbara is preceded in death by her son, Ryan Smith; brother, David Wallace; and father, Walter Wallace.

Funeral services were held Sunday, March 24, 2019 at Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home, interment followed at Bagdad Cemetery in Leander.

Alfred James (A.J.) Baker

Alfred James (A.J.) Baker

September 2, 1939 — April 2, 2019

Alfred James (A.J.) Baker passed away on April 2, 2019, after a long battle with cancer. He was born Sept. 2, 1939, in Austin, Texas, to Noel James and Martha Stewart Baker and raised by his father and stepmother, Florence Biggers Baker, whom he loved dearly.

A.J. was a 1958 graduate of McCallum High School in Austin. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1958 to 1962, where he was stationed on the aircraft carrier USS Bon Homme Richard in the Pacific. After the Navy, he attended The University of Texas while working at Austin City Power Company. He retired in 1999 from 3M after 33 years. His second career was a rancher and pecan producer in Mason County until health issues forced him to sell his ranch and move to Marble Falls, Texas. He was very proud of his pecan crops, which earned him many awards, including four “best pecans in the state” blue ribbons from the Texas Department of Agriculture.

Earlene Wimberly, 68, passed away on April 8, 2019.

Her funeral service is to be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, April 13, 2019 at Jenkins Funeral Home, formerly Edgar Funeral Home, 109 N. Main St Burnet, Texas with interment to follow at Bear Creek Cemetery, Bertram, Texas.  Family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Funeral Home.

Earlene was born on July 30, 1950 to Ernest and Estella Franklin.  She was a life long resident of Bertram, Texas.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Estella Franklin; son, Neal Eugene Wimberly, Jr.; one sister; and three brothers.

Earlene is survived by her daughter, Tammy Arivette; son, Bill Bell and wife Jessica; eleven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; former husband, Neal Eugene Wimberly, Sr.; stepdaughters, Missy Hansen and Mindy Wimberly.

Arthur Lee Edmundson Jr., born Jan. 20, 1936 passed away peacefully Thursday, April 4, 2019.  Preceding Arthur in death was his loving wife and best friend, Bobbie Jean Edmundson.

His daughter, Annette Moresco and her husband Ralph survive him.  In addition to his daughter, he is survived by his grandsons, their spouses, and his great grandchildren: John Jennings, wife Brittany and their children, Jagger, Julianna, and Jentry; Edmund Jennings, wife Jessica and their children Jessie and Joshua.

Thomas Donovan "T.D." Smith

April 13, 1920 - March 27, 2019

Thomas Donovan “T.D.” Smith went to be with the Lord on March 27, 2019 in Burnet, Texas with his loving wife Peggy at his side. He was born to John Taylor and Mary Margurarite (Donovan) Smith on April 23, 1920 in Bertram, Texas.

T.D. Was raised in the Shady Grove community north of Bertram, Texas. Upon completion of high school, he enlisted in the U.S. Army to do his part in the war effort. T.D. was a radar maintenance technician and specialized in anti-submarine warfare. He served two tours of duty in the European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign during WW II. For his service he received the American Defense Service Medal, EAME Campaign Medal with one Bronze Star, the Good Conduct Medal, a Distinguished Unit Badge, one Service Stripe and four Overseas Service Bars.

On March 27, 2019, Brandon Michael Jacque, 25, left us and gained his angel wings. Brandon was born in Austin on April 13, 1993. He attended school in Burnet CISD and graduated in 2011 from Burnet High School. Brandon was a gifted athlete participating in football, baseball, and track.

Brandon was a loving father, son, grandson, and brother. He had a heart of gold, a smile that would brighten anyone’s day, and a contagious laugh. Brandon loved his family and friends and would make time to help when needed and provide everyone with a good laugh. Brandon’s love for his daughter, Harper, was unmatched. The day she was born, he found love like he had never imagined and that love helped him improve his life in countless ways.

She grew up on the family farm in Leander, Texas, graduated from Leander ISD in 1960, and the University of Texas-Austin in 1966.

James D. Hostetter

April 10, 1923 - March 27, 2019

James D. Hostetter, 95, of Columbus, North Carolina, died on March 27, 2019.

A native of South Bend, Indiana, born April 10, 1923, he was the son of Lee Hostetter and Isal Elizabeth Rhodes Hostetter.

Mr. Hostetter was a June, 1941 graduate of Riley High School and graduated “With Honors & With Distinction” (1951) from San Diego State College. He was a 32-year employee of The Travelers Insurance Company, retiring in 1986 after serving as Manager in San Diego, California, and Dallas, Texas, and Second Vice President in the Financial Services Department in Hartford, Connecticut.

He served over four years during WWII, first in the U.S. Merchant Marine (North Atlantic & Mediterranean/Middle East war zones) and then stateside in the U. S. Marine Corps.

Our mother, Joan Elise Mire Hisler, 85 years young, passed from this world in the wee morning hours of Sunday, March 31, 2019 at 2:45 a.m. in Marble Falls, Texas.

A widow of Capt. Norman Ray Hisler Jr. (retired USMC of Garyville, Louisiana); Joan is immediately survived in death by: her children, George Raymond Hisler of Marble Falls, Texas, Joan Elise Hisler of Parthenon, AR, Deirdre Elaine Hisler of Marfa, Texas, her former daughter-in-law, Charla Hisler Durden of Sugarland, Texas, and her grandsons, Evan Mire Hisler of Austin, Texas, Austin Major Hisler of Dallas, Texas.
