Zola Ruth Asher Greer of Spring, Texas, was born on Texas Independence Day, March 2, 1927, passed away Feb. 3, 2019, at the age of 91. Ruth was born and raised in Joppa, Texas, graduating from Bertram High School. Ruth worked for the state of Texas, but mostly she was a home maker, devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.

Ruth was preceded in death by father L. B. Asher and mother Lela Asher, brother Buck Asher, sisters Estelle Bryson, Ozelle Asher, and Marylou Fiegel , and Husband Thomas Doyle Greer.

Michael Dean Sellars, 65, of Burnet, passed away Jan. 31, 2019. He was born Aug. 11, 1953, in Snyder to Crystal and Dell Marie Cumbie Sellars.

Michael graduated from Snyder High School and graduated from Western Texas State Junior College with a Bachelor’s degree in Criminology. He was a member of Hill Country Fellowship, and he loved his job with Oldcastle. He was a bull rider in his younger years. Michael coached girls’ softball, loved to fish and loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Mae Nottie Cornelius Tondre, 100, passed away on Jan. 10, 2019.

There will be a Celebration of Life on Saturday, Feb. 16, at 2 p.m. at 1504 Timber Valley Lane Granite Shoals, Texas.

Mae was a beautician for many years until she moved to Houston. She had a passion for blue bonnets and loved the annual Bluebonnet Festival. She also loved crafts and gardening.

Mrs. Tondre is preceded in death by her husband, Calvin Cornelius and husband, Alton Tondre; daughter, Winnell Hernandez; son-in-law, Dale Hernandez; son, Kendall Cornelius; daughter-in-law, Donna Cornelius; son-in-law, Alvis Shaw; grandson, Gene Shaw; and her parents, Will and Alaf Everett.

Joan C. Carroll, 87, of Burnet, Texas, passed away in her home on Feb. 2, 2019, after a short illness.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, at Burnet Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Josyph Andrews officiating. A burial will follow in Barbourville, Kentucky. Arrangements have been made by Clements Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.

Reverend Theodore E. Hervey, Jr.

Theodore E. Hervey, Jr. passed from this life Tuesday, Jan. 15, at his home in Bertram, after gracefully living with a diagnosis of Frontotemporal Dementia in 2013 and later, Parkinson’s.

Ted was most recently the Priest at Epiphany Episcopal in Burnet, serving there about 20 years, starting out as Vicar. During his time there, he was involved in the Ministerial Alliance, the Literacy Council, and on the Board of LaCare. With the help of the Diocese of Texas and local businessman Blake Fulenwider, he was instrumental in bringing a family here who had lost their home to Hurricane Rita, in southeast Texas. This brought many blessings to Epiphany and this family.

Pam was born in Rome, NY to Ruth Evylyn House and Walter Lewis House. She moved to Texas in 1977 where she had her own business called Sunshine Gallery Arts and Crafts. She had a true talent to create beautiful things.

Pam is preceded in death by her mother, father, and sister, Starr Funk.

Mary Lee Graves

Mary Lee Graves

March 19, 1934 — January 17, 2019

Mary Lee Graves, a near-lifelong resident of Burnet passed away peacefully on Jan. 17, 2019, at the age of 84.  She was born Mar. 19, 1934, in Roosevelt, Texas to Estes Smith and Tillie Simon Smith.

Mary Lee was preceded in death by her husband of over 50 years, Jerry V. Graves, on April 27, 2015.

Mary Lee graduated from Burnet High School in 1951 and went on to study business in San Antonio, Texas followed by many years as an employee of the Burnet County Tax Office, a position that she is most remembered for.  She also worked for Lone Star Industries later known as Pioneer.

Mary Lee was a lifelong member of the Vandveveer Street Church of Christ.  She is mostly remembered by those who knew her as friendly, kind, and compassionate.  She always had a smile and a kind word for everyone she encountered.
