Dorothy “Dot” Ellen Riley Creasey

May 7, 1945 – September 11, 2019

Dorothy Ellen Riley, affectionately known as MiMi, was born May 7, 1945, in New Braunfels, Texas, to Homan Windell Riley and Alva Lee Schooley Riley, the fourth of eight children. Dot attended schools in Burnet, Texas where she graduated in the Class of 1963. After high school, Dot attended Mary Hardin-Baylor College in Belton, Texas and The University of Texas at Austin.

Dot married Frank Daughtrey Creasey Sr. and they had one son, Frank Daughtrey Creasey Jr.

Dot was employed at the Burnet Central Appraisal District for 39 years, during which time she achieved her Registered Property Appraiser, RPA Certification. Oh, the experiences she had during those 39 years before her retirement! She learned how to outrun dogs when doing field work and drive through rough country. In earlier years she was a Tupperware dealer where she earned an automobile through her sales work.

Ruth Evelyn Bristow

May 10, 1940 — August 31, 2019

Ruth Evelyn Bristow, 79, passed away Aug. 31, 2019. She was born May 10, 1940, in Missouri to Lloyd Rylie Rhea and Ruby Amanda Furlong Rhea.

Ruth spent her childhood and growing up in Egypt, Arkansas and graduated there in 1958. After high school she moved to St. Louis, Missouri where she worked as a secretary in a bank. Later she moved back to Arkansas where she worked and then met her future husband Ray. She always told the story she and Ray met while working in the field picking cotton.

In 1973 she and the family moved to Burnet. For many years people will remember her working at Bill’s Dollar Store. Ruth was a longtime member of the Northside Baptist Church in Burnet and loved to sing and play the guitar. She will be remembered for her dedication to her husband and family.

Dorothy Edith Breitschopf

Nov. 28, 1933 — August 30, 2019

Dorothy (Dot) Breitschopf celebrated life until she was 85 years old. She was born to Samuel and Ethel Lester. She was raised in Gonzales with a younger brother, Samuel Lester, Jr. and an older sister, Ann Robinson.

She graduated from Gonzales High School and married William Louis Breitschopf on May 4, 1952. Dorothy and Bill raised six children: Pam Horn, Susan Breitschopf, Joy Thumann, Jenny Bradshaw, Jana Rose, and John Utley.

She was a member of the Bertram Church of Christ, and Chaplain for the Burnet Women’s Prison. Her purpose in life was to serve God in her community and around the world.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and her older sister.

She is survived by her six children; many grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.

Robin Teal Hinkle

Robin Teal Hinkle, 67, of Burnet, passed away Sept. 6, 2019 with her family by her side.

Our mom was a fire cracker. Born on Aug. 2, 1952 in Alice, Texas to Tom Allen and Rae Nell Witter, she followed her own rules, made her own path and didn’t let anyone tell her what to do.

She grew up in Austin and attended school at Reagan High, when she met wild man, Terry Hinkle. They married on Sept. 23, 1969. Their short-lived relationship ended when mom decided education was important and returned to graduate. She then attended Angelo State University, went on to graduate from Howard College and started work as a Licensed Vocational Nurse, spending her days taking care of others and her nights taking care of us.

Calvin “Cal” Coolidge Skaggs

December 7, 1924 — August 22, 2019

Calvin "Cal" Coolidge Skaggs, 94, passed away on Aug. 22, 2019.

Cal was born in Amarillo on Dec. 7, 1924 to James Madison and Maye Mary Davis Skaggs. He was raised in Pampa, Texas and Lefors, Texas, where he graduated from Lefors High School.

Upon graduation Cal enlisted in the United States Air Force, starting out as a cadet but was soon reassigned to the Army Infantry. He served in Austria and France under General George Patton, a man whom he respected greatly.

Upon his discharge from the Army, Cal moved back to Texas. He and Betty lived in the Burnet and Marble Falls area for more than 40 years, where he was a custom home builder and land developer. Cal had many hobbies, which included raising horses, golfing and dancing. He was also known for his love of unique and stylish hats.

Judith Charlene Carpenter Shelburn passed peacefully on Aug. 27, 2019, at the age of 87 following a series of strokes over the past year.

Judy was born to Charles H Carpenter and Laura Smith Halliburton in Palacios, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Gerald Shelburn; both of her parents; sisters, Margaret Brown, Latricia Sweatman, Beulah Smith; and brother, Eugene Carpenter.

Just three days shy of his 66th birthday, Thomas J. Williams Sr. (Tom) passed from his home on earth to his eternal home with his Savior at his home in Burnet, Texas, at about 7:30 p.m.

Kenneth E. Brown

Kenneth E. Brown

January 7, 1930 — August 21, 2019

Kenneth E. Brown was born Jan. 7, 1930, in Butler, Missouri to Rhoda Seward and Jacob Brown. He had two brothers, Sylvester Hartsell and David Brown as well as three sisters, Alberta Crabtree, Edith Thornburg and Violet Longo, all of whom preceded Kenneth in death.

Kenneth and his wife, Velma Ilene (McCoy) Brown, married in July 1952 and have four daughters, Barbara (Bob) Russell, Susan (Jim) Alstatt, Nancy King, and Linda (Gary) Brown. Also surviving are many grand, great-grand, great-great-grandchildren.

Kenneth had a hard life growing up during the depression, but he joined the Air Force when he was 21 and that made a very good life for him. He stayed in the Air Force for twenty years and, during that time, a year in Vietnam where he earned the Bronze Star. After retirement as a Tech Sgt. from the Air Force, Kenneth worked for the State of Texas for 17 years.

Hilda Ruth Larrimore

August 9, 1933 — August 26, 2019

Hilda Ruth Larrimore, of Burnet, passed away on Monday, Aug. 26, at the age of 86. Mrs. Larrimore is survived by her son, Charles Eugene “Gene” Larrimore and wife Nan of Mason; two grandchildren, Jordan Larrimore and fiancé Stephanie Castillo of Kyle, and Amy Britt and husband Robby of Pflugerville. She is preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Richard W. Smith; her husband; and a son, Dennis W. Larrimore.

Hilda was born in Fairland in Burnet County on Aug. 9, 1933 to William Landon Smith and Eula Mae (Wallace) Smith. She was raised in the Marble Falls area and graduated from Marble Falls High School.

Hilda met and fell in love with Charles Larrimore, and they were married at the First Methodist Church in Marble Falls on Oct. 26, 1951. They moved to Frederick, Maryland during Charles’ service in the US Army. They settled in La Grange where they lived for 30 years raising their two sons.
