Clyde Mordica III

Clyde Mordica III passed away Wednesday, July 3, 2019 in Pleasanton, Texas at the age of 70. He was born July 5, 1948 in Fredericksburg, Texas to Clyde Earl Mordica Jr. and Louise (Leifeste).

Clyde was a resident of Pleasanton, Texas for one and a half years, since coming from Buchanan Dam and Austin, he was a member of the Cowboy Fellowship in Jourdanton, Texas, and was also an avid hunter and fisherman.

Clyde is preceded by his parents, Louise Leifeste Mordica and Clyde Earl Mordica Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Teri Wright Mordica; two sons, Clyde Mordica IV and wife Shelly Walker Mordica and Jeffrey Dean Mordica and wife Amanda Mints Mordica; four grandchildren, Clyde Mordica V, Cody Walker Mordica, Clayton Everett Mordica, and Ashtyn Grace Mordica.

Deward Lavaughn “Punk” Turner

Deward Lavaughn “Punk” Turner passed away peacefully on July 1, 2019. D.L. was born on June 9, 1928, at Cow Creek in Travis County, Texas to James Lafayette “Dee” Turner and Ada Annie (Collier) Turner.

He is survived by his daughter, Teresa Jean (Turner) Ellis and her husband Lee of Grand Junction, Colorado; and two granddaughters, Kathryne Rose Ellis and Emma Lee Ellis, both of Grand Junction, Colorado. He is also survived by one sister, Alene Morris of Bertram, Texas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

D.L. was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Holloway) Turner; his parents, Dee and Ada Turner; brothers, Dick Turner, Son Turner, and Gordon Turner; sisters, Lucille McAnally, Merle Chambers, Joyce Morris, and Minnie Jo Phelps.

Catherine Hope McCarty

January 11, 1922 — July 5, 2019

Catherine Hope McCarty, age 97, went to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 5, 2019. Hope maintained an apartment in Burnet where she enjoyed living independently with the caring support of her friends and family.

Hope was born on Jan. 11, 1922 to Leta Mae and Andrew Dorman Henderson in Kingsland, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two sisters, JoAnn Farris and Elaine Pfeifer. She is survived by daughter, Debbie Slangal and husband Charlie; son, Lee McCarty; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

James Robert Benson

November 6, 1931 — June 25, 2019

James Robert Benson passed from this life Tuesday, June 25, 2019, at the age of 87.

Robert, as he was known by most, was born in Bartlett, Texas to Odes and Linnie (Jordan) Benson on Nov. 6, 1931, but spent most of his life in Lampasas, Texas.

Robert was preceded in death by his mother and father; a daughter, Markee; and his only sister, Marie Wolf. He is survived by a brother, Fred Benson and wife Joan of Granbury, Texas; a brother, Randall Benson and wife Sue of Bertram, Texas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert served proudly in the Army National Guard for 17 years. Robert was a hard worker and a good provider for his family. He was especially loving and patient with his only child Markee, who was the joy of his life even with all of her special needs.

Mason Cole Jobes, beloved son of Brian Noble Jobes and Erika Elaine Taylor, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2019. He was born on July 19, 2000 in Austin, Texas. 

In addition to his parents he is survived by his stepmother, Vinita Jobes; his half-sister, Juhi Kulkarni; brother, John Dylan Jobes; his grandfathers, Jim Taylor and Harold D Jobes; grandmothers, Helen Jobes and Cheryl Jobes; uncles, Sam Jobes, Joe Stebe, Robert Kosta and David Kosta; aunts, Elise Stebe, Andrea Jobes and Lana Sveda; his dog, Buddy and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Kay Taylor.

Mason was proud of his Texas heritage. He came from many generations of Texas ranchers dating back to the arrival of his earliest ancestors who settled in the DeWitt Colony when Texas was still a part of Mexico.

Jeffrey Craig Nobles, 54, passed away on June 6, 2019 after a three-year battle with cancer.

Jeffrey was born to Mamie Ellen Courtney and Vernon Nobles and raised in Burnet, Texas. Jeffrey was a man of few words. He loved motorcycles and fast cars. Jeffrey had two sons who he raised and meant the world to him. He is survived by Jeffrey Scott Nobles and wife Kelly Ann Nobles; granddaughters, Kamilya Ann Nobles, Karizma Arillia Nobles; and son, Jason Lee Nobles.

A graveside memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet on Saturday, June 29.

Jeffery Robert Gastineau

March 24, 1974 — June 17, 2019

Jeffery Robert Gastineau of Burnet, Texas passed away Monday, June 17, 2019 surrounded by his loving family. He died at the age of 45 from natural causes.

He was born March 24, 1974 on Guam to Bonnie Williams and Gary Gastineau. His father was in the Navy and was stationed on Guam.

Jeff graduated from Round Rock High School. He later moved to Lubbock where he worked hard and graduated with Honors at Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science in Clinical Laboratory Science degree.

Jeff worked for 15 years as a Medical Technologist (ASCP), Clinical Laboratory Coordinator, and a Quality Control Manager for Llano Memorial Hospital.

Jeff was a loving family man. He was a man of faith in Christ. He was a proud American, continuously loving his country.

He was married to Sandra Bolin for 15 years. They have two sons, Ozzy Robert Gastineau and Jarad Ellis Gastineau.
