Great showing for Burnet at State Track Meet

Six Bulldog athletes did a very good job in their respective events at the UIL State Track meet which was held in Austin on Saturday. On the boys side of competition Burnet’s 400 meter relay team cruised to a sixth place finish with a time of 42.28. Participants for that event included Steven Gallardo, Chris Cromer, Brock Foster and Joel Johnson. All four boys are underclassmen and will return to the BHS track program next spring.

2015 Varsity Bulldog Baseball

Dawgs end season at Wimberley

There were some big highlights and tough lows in the Dawgs’ three game Bi-District series against the Wimberley Texans. Burnet won game one on Friday night but dropped twostraight
on Saturday to fall from the state playoff race.

Girls battle to the end but fall from playoffs

It took all three games and an extra inning but the Lady Dawgs were eventually defeated by a very talented Needville team in the Area round of the UIL State playoffs. Burnet had a very successful season and finished with an overall 21-6-2 record. They claimed a three-way share of
the 25-4A district crown and advanced all the way to the Area round of the playoffs.

Golfers fi nish sixth at state meet

On Monday and Tuesday the girls golf team consisting of Lauren Beckwith, Taylor Carroll, Jodi Hill, Reagan Giesenschlag and Malory Alvarez competed in the 4A State Golf Championship at the Onion Creek Country Club. “Getting over obvious nerves on day one the girls shot a 396 which was good enough for us to fi nish in sixth place out of a fi eld of 12,” said coach Roy Kiser.

Lady Dawgs moving on to second round

The Lady Bulldog softball team entered the UIL State Playoffs last Thursday night in a best of three game series that started in Canyon Lake versus Gonzales. In game one Burnet collected
14 hits against the Apaches but had some trouble on the bases which led to a low scoring game.

Dawgs sending six to UIL State Track Meet

The Burnet Bulldog regional track qualifi ers did an excellent job at Javelina Stadium over the weekend and six Bulldogs extended their seasons with silver fi nishes that qualifi ed them for state. The boys 400 meter relay team of Steven Gallardo, Joel Johnson, Brock Foster, and
Chris Cromer turned in a blazing 42.42 for second place and a state berth. Stanford barely
beat Burnet out for first with a 42.16.

Two big wins for Burnet

It’s been an up and down season for the Burnet Bulldog baseball team. District 25-4A is pretty evenly matched and week after week teams make big moves to try and capture one of four playoff spots. Last week was no exception. On Monday Burnet traveled back to Taylor to finish out Friday’s rain out game.

Lady Dawgs claim share of district crown

The Lady Bulldog softball team competed District 25-4A play last week with three games which included two wins and one loss for the girls in green. On Monday the varsity traveled back to Taylor to finish out a rain out game from the previous Friday. They brought home a 3-2 win after holding off a late surge by the Lady Ducks.

Strong push down the stretch by the Lady Bulldogs

The Lady Bulldog softball team will play their final district game this Friday night in Liberty Hill. The girls in green did a great job last week and are making a strong push to finish out the district with wins. On Tuesday night Burnet hosted the Lady Yellowjackets and came away with an 11-1 win. On Friday they traveled to Taylor and only got in four innings before the game was called due to rain. Burnet was leading 2-0 at the stoppage.
