Lady Dawgs softball team struggling

Barry(ing) one deep: Burnet junior Alex Barry turns on a Canyon Lake pitch and sends it good-bye over the centerfield fence for a homerun in the first inning of play. Sam Robison later added a three-run dinger, and Natalie Frank also added a solo homerun. Unfortunately it wasn’t quite enough as the Hawks collected a 10-5 win.

Burnet Junior Powerlifting

Brother and sister Jayci and Jathan Craig share a long awaited moment. While waiting for final results Burnet junior powerlifter Jayci and her older brother begin to flash smiles when they know for sure she is a state qualifier. The younger Craig had finished as a third place state alternate both her freshman and sophomore year, so the silver qualifying joy was long awaited. There was also icing on the cake. The Burnet junior joined her older brother in the regional record books. Jathan was also a state qualifier and set a regional bench press record in 2010 that still stands today. Jayci now shares that honor after a 165 pound press in the 132-148 class. This moment was captured by their brother and 2015 BHS graduate Jes Craig.

The game’s goal is to raise money to provide scholarships to the area players. Players will have a chance to showcase their talents as they strive to play at the next level.
The girl’s game will have a 1:30 p.m. tip-off with the boys game to follow. Each team will have 15 players and will be divided into a North and South squad.
Congratulations to each of Burnet’s athletes on their selection.
