Our drought continues, but there might be relief in sight

According to our esteemed TV weather “prophets” we might see some rain later this week.

It doesn’t sound like a “gully washer”, but any little bit would be welcome. In the meantime, our burn ban continues until further notice.

One thing you might not have considered is the danger of mowing. Our grasses are bone dry, and one little spark from your mower striking a rock could start a fire in no time!

Library News

Our beloved children’s librarian, Miss Bridget, is retiring! We are giving her a big sendoff July 31 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library.

Refreshments will be served, and a balloon artist will provide balloon animals for all the kids present. You can drop off cards and gifts at the Thrift Store before or bring them that night. Let’s say a big thank you to this special lady!

While Summer Reading is over, Book Bingo is ongoing for both adults and children.

Go by the library and pick up a Book Bingo Grid form, which is complete with rules. Here’s how it works: read a book for each square on your grid; when you have made a “bingo”, completing a row, column or diagonal, bring your form to the library for a prize. Additionally, when you make a “blackout” on your form, you’ll earn a free ice cream scoop coupon from Bertram Blends and Boutique! The event ends on August 31

The Library Thrift Store will have a giant 50 percent off sale July 20 through 25. Check out their Facebook page for more sales information.

That’s all the news for this week. If you have information for this column please email marcimasterson@gmail.com. Your deadline is always Saturday.
