The Bulldog track team earned another team championship last week, this time taking the Area crown after some impressive performances. Individually the Dawgs earned 13 spots at this week’s regional meet and qualified 10 athletes.

Congratulations to Burnet Police Department Officer Dalton Buchhorn for his recognition as the Wallace Riddell Police Officer of the Year. Well deserved! The award was announced during the recent at Burnet Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet.

Paris Brinkley Kiser is one real hoop dream. Recently, the Burnet High School 2019 graduate scored 36 points during one basketball battle to help the Hardin-Simmons University Cowgirls win the American Southwest Conference championship.

As the region continues to deal with the effects of a severe drought, the Lower Colorado River Authority has determined no water from the Highland Lakes will be available for most LCRA agricultural customers in Colorado, Wharton and Matagorda counties in 2024.

As the Lower Colorado River Authority meets this month, discussion and action will include proposed amendments to the Drought Contingency Plan (DCP). Officials want the pub lic to understand not only the critical nature of current conditions but their own role in shaping the policy.

Recently, the Texas Historical Commission qualified the Burnet Historical Commission to receive a certified local government grant for a notable yet unmarked cemetery site. The action followed a Burnet County Commissioners Court recommendation.

It was a night to remember as Bertramites and beyond gathered for the 3rd Annual Bertram Chamber of Commerce Awards Banquet this past Thursday evening. This event was once again held at the lovely Twisted Ranch venue just outside of Bertram where guests gathered for a delicious meal provided by Hill Country Smokehouse.

Burnet City Council recently allocated thousands of dollars for communications gear needed to accommodate an extraordinary amount of tourists expected to trek through Burnet during the upcoming total solar eclipse day.
