A group of residents hosted a local version July 5 of a nationwide call for boaters to rally for the President of the United States.

Supporters from as far as San Antonio and the metroplex joined local residents from Burnet County and Llano County for the Lake LBJ Loves Trump event.

The day-long demonstration of support involved boaters all decked out in red, white and blue flying pro-Trump and American flags.

Counters estimated approximately 450 primarily boats and some personal watercraft on the water for the post Independence Day celebration event.

The parade started at Wirtz Dam, proceeded under RM 2900 bridge and circled back to Horseshoe Bay.

Supporters lined the bridge, while other resident watched from docks and along the shoreline.

Dozens of people also perched atop the Scenic Overlook (Lookout Mountain) with flags and signs.

Organizers say another event is tentatively planned for Labor Day, Sept. 7.
