Burnet CISD has hired Matt Busceme as the new director of technology for the district.

Busceme (pronounced booSHAYme) has a bachelor’s degree in Applied Arts and Sciences, and has been with Humble ISD for 13 years, currently serving as the assistant director of technology services. Humble ISD has 43 campuses and more than 42,000 students.

He started his career with Humble ISD as a computer lab teacher (paraprofessional) where he taught every student at Humble Elementary, Pre-K to fifth grade, the basics of computer usage. He has served multiple roles in the Humble Technology Department including desktop support specialist, network systems specialist, and senior systems analyst.

“We are excited to have someone with Matt’s background and experience joining our team to lead our efforts in providing technology services to support teaching and learning, and efficiencies in our daily business,” said Superintendent Keith McBurnett.

“Matt remembers what it was like when he was teaching in the computer lab, and the network went down with a group of kindergarten students. Experiences like that informed his focus on customer service and meeting the needs of stakeholders through servant leadership.”

Busceme and his wife Lauren, who is a lead interventionist in Humble ISD, are looking forward to being a part of a smaller community and calling Burnet home. Busceme’s first official day with the district will be Oct. 5.
