After weeks of holding at three total COVID-19 cases with no active ones, Llano Couny now has two more active cases.
County Judge Ron Cunningham told county commissioners at Monday’s special meeting that both cases have been quarantined.
Cunningham said he is “pretty sure” all the contacts have been tracked and tested. One case is from Llano and one is from Sunrise Beach Village.
Cunningham said all 445 workers in Llano County nursing homes and assisted living facilities have now been tested and all came back negative.
County Emergency Management Coordinator Gilbert Bennett noted that Texas has seen a surge in hospitalizations attributed to the virus in the past few days, but he had no hard numbers.
Asked by Precinct 4 Commissioner Jerry Don Moss if the spike was due to recent protests, Bennett said officials attribute much of it to the Memorial Day weekend.
“Part of the challenge may be not using proper social distancing when they go to bars or restaurants,” Cunningham said.
Bennett also recommended that commissioners reinstate a county-wide burn ban. The motion was unanimously approved.
