Burnet County municipalities have plenty to give thanks for when it came to area commerce in November 2020 after receiving their sales tax allocations this week from Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar’s office.

Citing “unlawful arrest and excessive use of force,” an Austin law firm filed a civil rights lawsuit in the Western District of Texas last week against Llano County, Sheriff Bill Blackburn, the Llano County Sheriff’s Office and three of Blackburn’s current or former deputies — Jackson Idol, Steven Sifford and an unknown officer identified as Officer John Doe.

An H-E-B employee, or partner, from Store 735, 1503 Farm Road 1431, Marble Falls, was confirmed to have tested positive for COVID-19 last month, but did not require the store to close as a result, company officials said last week in a press release.

A blaze sparked by a juvenile “playing with matches” Jan. 4 has displaced a family just off Park Road 4 in Burnet, investigators said.

At almost the last possible minute — Wednesday, Dec. 30 — Llano County commissioners learned that federal Medicare officials had granted “critical access” designation to Llano Memorial Hospital.
