Fred Gamble passed away at his home on Wednesday, September 9, 2020 at the age of 82.

Fred was born in La Feria, Texas and lived there through his high school years. He enrolled at the University of Corpus Christi where he met Jo. On August 24, 1957 they began their journey of 63 years as husband and wife.

His career began as an architectural draftsman at the H-E-B offices in Corpus Christi. After leaving H-E-B he went into full time music and youth ministry. He then earned a Bachelor of Science at Howard Payne University in Brownwood, Texas where he stayed and began a career in education. He also earned a Master’s in Education from Tarleton State University. He had a deep love for

He had a deep love for influencing and inspiring young people. He was a coach at Brownwood High School and served as principal at several schools in Texas. He then retired from Texas in 1992, moved to Eunice, New Mexico, where he became high school principal and athletic director.

Fred retired from his position in New Mexico in 1999 and moved with his wife to Burnet, Texas. It was in retirement that Fred began to do other things that he enjoyed. He was a devout Christian, becoming an ordained minister and serving as a deacon at First Baptist Church in Burnet. He enjoyed golfing, watching his favorite teams on TV and keeping up with Texas high school football. He enjoyed yardwork, camping, keeping some animals on his small acreage. He loved his family and staying in touch. He was fond of sharing adventure stories from his coaching years. Fred could be seen around town always accompanied by his two dogs in his classic 1994 brown suburban.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; two sons, Danny Gamble of Burnet and Craig Gamble and his wife Linda of McKinney, Texas; granddaughter, Kiley Roberts and her husband Andrew; a grandson, Coby Gamble; and two great grandsons, Ransom Craig and Shepherd Zane Roberts. All reside in McKinney.

A worship memorial service will be held at First Baptist Church in Burnet on Saturday, Sept. 19, at 3:00 p.m.
