Paul G Escamilla Jr. was born on August 17, 1936 in Bertram to Pablo Escamilla and Micaela Gonzales and went to his heavenly home on July 27, 2020 in Bertram.

Paul is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Eloisa Felan Escamilla; his children, Paula Moreno (Domingo), Teresa Bernal (Jose Oballe), Sandra Gutierrez (Luis Ramirez), John Paul Escamilla (Tracy), Paul Escamilla Ill (Terry), David Paul Escamilla (Lisa), Melissa Escamilla, and his most beloved ray of sunshine, Sasha Ribera; his only surviving sister, Nancy Pina and husband Eddie; 19 grandchildren; 28 greatgrandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews.

Paul was raised a migrant worker by his parents and the families traveled all around Texas and Ohio finally settling in Fredericksburg, then to Burnet. Paul grew up in Burnet County and worked for TM Daniel for 15 years and later for John Hoover for 40 years, retiring but, continuing his own business in construction for many more years. He was well known in the area for his work, dedication and integrity.

Paul was instrumental in the building of the Bell Tower and Parish Hall at Our Mother of Sorrows Catholic Church in Burnet, in 1972 as Supervisor, with David Maldonado, George and Cornelius Escamilla as Chief Masons.TM Daniel donated the stone. The labor was donated by family members of the Escamilla, Maldonado, Gonzales, Hernandez, Valdez, Mata, Castillo, Garcia, Robles, Rojas, Zuniga, Silva, Rodriguez, Everett and Howell, with the youngest family member being Paul’s son John Paul Escamilla, The Parish Hall was built later. Paul was also instrumental in the building of the Escamilla Pavilion at the Galloway YMCA in Burnet.

His parents; daughter, Yolanda Elizabeth Escamilla; four brothers, Esperanza, Felipe, Andres, and Juan Escamilla; and four sisters, Domingo Maldonado, Emilia Escamilla, Katy Valdez and Jovita Escamilla preceded Paul in death.

A special heart felt thank you to Alice Escamilla (niece) and Terry Escamilla (daughter-in-law) for their most compassionate care they provided to him. A great big thank you to all the employees and friends at El Rancho Mexican Restaurant in Burnet for their excellent service and friendship, they provided to their most loyal patrons El Corporation (Paul Escamilla, Phillip Gonzales) and La Princesa Eloisa Escamilla.

Visitation was held Thursday, July 30, 2020 with the reciting of Rosary at Clements Wilcox Funeral Home. Pallbearers were Alex Gutierrez, Daniel Gutierrez, Cristian Montez, Paul Escamilla, Johnny Escamilla, Thomas Escamilla, and Chris Gutierrez. Honorary Pallbearers were Phillip Gonzales, Rafael Felan, Eddie Pina, John W Hoover, Davin Escamilla, R.J. Bernal, Nicholas Escamilla and Frank J. Gutierrez Jr.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, July 31, 2020 at Our Mother of Sorrows for immediate family only and graveside services followed at San Jose Cemetery at Andice.
