The Lady Bulldog volleyball program earned some exciting wins last Tuesday night at their final home games of the 2020 season. The freshman girls kept their district record undefeated and remain in first place in 19-4A. The JV girls, who fell to Salado for their only district loss in round one play, defeated the Lady Eagle this match which keeps them in first place as well.

The varsity team sent a strong message as they prepare to enter the playoffs. Burnet defeated Salado, the number one team in 19-4A, in straightsets. In their first meeting the Lady Eagle took the win 3-2 so this was an exciting victory for Burnet’s girls.

“We were still short handed on Tuesday, and had to adjust to a new rotation, but we came out on fire,” said Burnet’s varsity coach Crystal Shipley. We bounced back after being down in one, absolutely dominated set two, and finished set three strong and scrappy for the win.”

Burnet completed the sweep 25-23, 25-15, 25-20.

The upset win over the No. 1 Lady Eagles locks third place for Burnet’s girls as they move to post season play. “Even though that is not the position we had in mind, the girls are getting better and learning to adjust as we go forward in this crazy pandemic,” said Shipley.
