One day at a time

Most already know I lost my dad last week; I also lost one of my best friends with his passing.

He meant the world to our family and was the constant rock and center of our world that anyone could lean on.

I want to say thank you to so many who helped in numerous different ways; from sending thoughts, all the prayers, preparing food, serving food, providing a place, sending flowers, and of course all the kind words from those who spoke.

So many have whispered, one day at a time, these days will get better.

My Dad touched so many lives, and that was evident last Friday. Thanks to all who showed up for our family.

We love and miss you Dad; we’ll have all the great memories to cherish until we meet again.

So many of our friends unfortunately know our pain, but our family will heal and begin to smile again, one day at a time.

Following the services Friday we knew it was a day for family gatherings, family stories, but I also kept up with the Friday night football game and the Bulldogs were already giving us something to smile about as they jumped to a 40-0 lead by halftime, and finished with a 46-6 win.

It was the first game Monica and I had missed since 1998. My Dad couldn’t always make the games, but he kept up with them, as does multiple other family members and you guys gave us something to smile about Friday evening.

The JV and freshman teams took care of business on Thursday, both winning by big margins.

The Lady Dawg volleyball teams are having plenty of success. Coach Crystal Shipley will get challenged by one of her former student athletes on Friday as the Lady Dawgs travel to Brownwood to take on Allison Eaton Smith and her Brownwood Lady Lions. Alli is a former Lady Bulldog who played under the direction of Coach Shipley when she was in seventh-grade at BMS. It should be a fun contest to follow.

The Bulldog football teams will take on Gonzales this week.

We hope to bring readers better coverage in the days to come.
