Burnet CISD has named Jennifer Stewart the interim principal at Burnet Middle School for the remainder of the school year.

Stewart, who has been the assistant principal for curriculum and instruction at Burnet High School since 2018, will succeed the late Jeremy LeJeune, who unexpectedly passed away earlier this month.

“Jennifer’s knowledge of middle school and her servant’s heart makes her the perfect candidate to serve as interim principal at Burnet Middle School as she supports students and staff during the spring semester,” said Superintendent Keith McBurnett.

Stewart has nearly 25 years in education and was previously a middle school English Language Arts teacher at Leander ISD; the district’s secondary English Language Arts facilitator for five years; district staff development coordinator for four years and middle school assistant principal in Leander ISD for three years during 17 years at that district.

She began her career as a middle school English teacher in Lake Dallas and taught at a variety of levels for 10 years prior to moving into administration.

A graduate of Leander High School, she received a bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Baptist University and a master’s degree through Concordia University. She and her husband Kyle have a son, Kirin.

Stewart will begin work at Burnet Middle School on Tuesday, Jan. 5, and is looking forward to welcoming students back to school on Wednesday, Jan. 6.
