Jerry D. Newton, 90,passed away on January 23,2026.

A Celebration of Life and Fellowship is planned from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Saturday, February 28, 2026, at Bertram Church of Christ Fellowship Hall.

Jerry was bom on January 15, 1936, in Hawley, Texas to Auda Cash and Neva Dell Newton. He attended and graduated from Hawley High School. He married Gladys Evelyn Schreiber on December 3.1955. and together they raised five children.

Jerry owned Newton Construction, a concrete construction company, in Bmnet for many years. He loved hunting, fishing, gun competition, and trap shooting. He was a member of the Bumet Gun Club and was club champion in the 1980s. In other years, he won three trap tournaments at the Aqua Festival in Austin and a shooting competition in San Antonio'. In addition to shooting, he loved to have family and friends over for fish fries, and everyone who ever tasted his fish will tell you it was the best! He and Gladys attended and were members of the Bertram Church of Christ.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Auda Cash and Neva Dell Newton; son, Herbert Newton: daughter-inlaw, Kim Thompson Newton; sister, Wanda Derby; fatherin- law and mother-in-law, Carl and Agatha Schreiber; brothers-in-law. Bob Derby and Fred Schreiber; sisters-inlaw, Mary Trisdale and Jonell Schreiber.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Gladys Evelyn Schreiber Newton; daughters, Gayle Robinson and her husband Jim, Jayne Moore and her husband Jim, Paula East and her husband Mike; son, Charles Newton; grandchildren, Mindi Carson, Melony Schaefer, Leslie Leatli. Kelly Trlica, Tyler Newton, Georgia Randall. Carla Leger, Hunter Newton, Jason Trlica, Jarod Trlica. Tanner Newton, and Jasmine Steele; and thirteen great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
