Ada Ruth Boyd

January 5, 1943 — April 13, 2026

Ada Ruth Boyd, 83, was born on January 5, 1943, in Burnet, Texas, to William August and Mable (Rogers) Schlomach. She passed on April 13, 2026 at St. David’s Hospital in Austin Tx after a brief illness.

Ada grew up in Burnet, where she attended school, married, moved to Austin, remarried, lived in Lampasas and eventually returned to the family property in Burnet. She was actively involved in her community and church for many years and raised her children with a strong faith in the Lord.

Ada was known for her love of wildlife, birds, plants, fishing and gardening. She cared deeply for farm animals, as well as cats and dogs. She enjoyed cooking for gatherings and cherished spending time visiting with family whenever possible.

She also loved singing old childhood songs, hymns, and modern Christian music alike. Ada had a special gift for humor, often sharing funny stories and creating her own playful songs for any occasion or holiday.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Mable Schlomach; four brothers, John G. Schlomach, Roger B. Schlomach, Dale Schlomach and sister-in-law, Betty; Owen Schlomach and sister-in-law, Rose and one sister, Joyce Izell and brother-in-law Paul.

She will also be remembered by her brother, Harvey Schlomach and his wife Elaine of Austin, and her sister-in-law, Shirley Guess of Burnet, whom she held close to her heart.

Ada is lovingly survived by her three children: Gwen Krause and husband Gary; Mark Ekrut and wife Darla; and Kerry Ekrut and wife Maureen.

Her legacy is beautifully carried on by her beloved grandchildren: Matthew Andel and wife Angela, Andrew Andel, Kara Burges and husband Kyle, Savannah Ekrut, Abbey Ekrut, and Ethan Ekrut; and her great-grandchildren: Jaxon, Kinley, Konley and Kase.

Ada loved and admired all her nieces and nephews very much. Special thanks to David Izell for always being there and helping her in so many ways, along with numerous friends and neighbors.
