Mary Lynn Cain

Mary Lynn Cain

July 24, 1965 —July 10, 2025

Mary Lynn (Bird) Cain, beloved and notorious mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, and friend, passed away peacefully on July 10, 2025, at the age of 59 in Burnet, Texas.

Mary was born on July 24, 1965. She lived in Houston, Burnet, San Marcos, San Antonio, Guam, Hawaii, and capped things off back in Burnet.

She is survived by her partner Fred, her best friend Michelle, her former husband Wesley, her children Tomas and Kayla, Ben, Klinton and Jessica, Korey and Kalli, and Katherine and Neylan, her second mother Barbara, her siblings Kathy, James, Doug, Debbie, and Donnie, and her grandchildren James, Joseph, and Rebekah, who call her MegaMom. She was preceded in death by her mother Betty, father Gene, and her brother Jeff.

Mary had a lifelong passion for teaching. She taught high school and college for the majority of her life. Her biggest goal was to raise her family in Burnet in the home that her grandparents built. She accomplished this dream so hard that she continued to grow her family in that home, hosting every birthday, Christmas, Thanksgiving, and last-minute family dinner until every kid grew up and moved on to new adventures.

Mary was a giver—of her resources, her time, and herself. If she saw a need, she did everything she could to meet it, no matter if the person was family, one of her students, or a stranger she had just met. While her impact on this world might not be one others would deem newsworthy, it is one that has changed thousands of lives and will be felt long after she is laid to rest.

In the final years of her life Mary was crushed under the weight of addiction and capitalism but she never lost her ability to care about and for the people she crossed paths with.

Memorial Service Sunday, July13, 2025 at 3:00 p.m. at Clements-Wilcox Chapel in Burnet, Texas.
