Emery Franklin Bridges, 92, passed away on October 17, 2025. The son of Cleveland and Marietta Hughes Bridges, born January 2, 1933 on a farm near San Benito, Texas. He was the youngest of nine children. His work history includes working as a Barber, State of Texas Highway Department and Amoco Chemical Co. (British Petroleum). He retired from Amoco in 1992. Emery LOVED his family and Studebaker cars. His beautiful sky blue eyes lit up any time he talked about either of them. He often said “i started driving a Studebaker and would die driving a Studebaker”. He enjoyed telling family stories and was the last great storyteller of the Bridges clan. He had a talent playing his guitar and singing. He was requested to sing and play at all kinds of gatherings. His sparkling blue eyes, smile and country charm were loved by family and friends.

Emery is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Roy William Bridges(Jessie), Burton Freeman Bridges(Mary), twins Wilmer Otis Bridges(who was killed in WW II) and Thelma Catherine Tipton(C.W.), Melvin Jay Bridges(Erma), Lillie Marie Bullard(Wilton), David D. Bridges, and Luella Goode(Taylor).

Emery is survived by his wife, Shirley Ann Bearden Bridges, they were married 63 years. Children: Dallas Wade Bridges(Amy) of Longview,TX and Lisa Dawn Barnum(Bruce) of Naples,TX; six grandchildren: Davy Ann Bridges, Bailey Rose Walker(Corwyn), Josiah Dean Bridges, Emma Shea Vincifore(Carmine), Blayre Lauryn Barnum, and Raegan Rylea Barnum; sister-in-law, Wanda Bridges, four Great Grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to thank New Century Hospice for their wonderful care. In Lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to the charity of choice in Emery’s memory.
