June M. Owens, of Burnet, formerly of Rockdale, passed away January 24, 2021. She was born September 8, 1929 in Haskell, Texas to Oval and Bertie Shaw.
June married Doug Baxter on June 2, 1945 in Haskell. They had two daughters, Linda and Kay. After a tragic automobile accident took the life of Doug in 1966, June remarried on July 12, 1968 to Denzal R. Owens in Cameron. They made their home in Rockdale for a number of years. After Denzal’s retirement from Alcoa in 1983, they moved to the Burnet County area and resided in Bertram before finally settling in Burnet. June was a housewife, homemaker and well known for her delicious pies, cakes, candies and cooking. She was a long time member of the Oaks West church of Christ in Burnet.
She is survived by daughters Linda Whitaker (and husband Mike) of Shenandoah, Iowa and Kay Stork of Temple, Texas. June is also survived by 6 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, 9 great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
June is preceded in death by her parents, brother Frank “Bill” Shaw and husbands Doug Baxter and Denzal Owens.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, January 30, 2021 at 3 p.m. at ClementsWilcox Funeral Home in Burnet, Texas with David Watson of Benchley officiating. Pallbearers are Connor Crane, Caden Crane, Todd Johnson, Doug Yakesch, Gary Yakesch and Russell Yakesch. Interment to follow at Post Mountain Cemetery in Burnet, Texas.
