Mary Lee Nyquist, age 82 years old, of Burnet went to be with the Lord on July 23, 2020, after complications following emergency surgery.

She was born Mary Lee Marx on January 25, 1938, in Burnet, Texas. Her parents were Clarence Bertie Marx (1892-1956) and Lillie Lee Martin Marx (1898-1985) and had one brother, C. B. Marx (1921-1987).

She grew up in Burnet. Mary wed Charles Mauritz Nyquist, and they have been married for 65 years. As an Air Force family, they lived in Delaware until Charles’ retirement in 1970, when the family moved back to Burnet.

“Sweet” is how Mary is most often described by those who knew her. She was a loyal, faithful, gracious, patient, and kind wife, mother, and grandmother. Mary had a deep, abiding confidence in God and His eternal faithfulness.

She loved her country and was a steadfast supporter of the Judeo-Christian values our nation embodies. She and Charles were always known for their hospitality.

Mary was a life-long artist, creating beautiful works of art; a business woman; licensed interior designer; antiques dealer; a designer of home plans and self-taught architect. She was a constant reader of many subjects, an avid genealogist.

A life-long learner, she was always studying and taking classes on her favorite subjects of art, antiques, history, and Bible, right up until she went to be with the Lord.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Charles Mauritz Nyquist and her four children: Teresa Kay Nyquist Tucker and husband, Larry Tucker; Charles Wayne Nyquist and wife, Tania Yershova Nyquist; Tonja Diane Nyquist Gilmore and husband, Henry Gilmore; Shelby Marx Nyquist and wife, Angela Lee Nyquist.
