Ralph Weller Samford of Burnet passed away Thursday, January 14, 2021. Our beloved Ralph was born November 6, 1941, to Ralph Melvin Samford and Mary Hailes Samford in Corpus Christi. He attended Mary Carroll High School where he made lifelong friends. He graduated in 1960 and in 1963 was drafted into the U.S. Army where he served two years in Germany during the Cold War. He was married to Patsy Wessels in 1968, a union of 53 years.

Upon his return to the United States he attended Del Mar College in Corpus Christi and then transferred to the University of Texas where he graduated with a BS degree in Accounting. His work history was with the Texas State Auditor’s Office, Assistant Director of Accounting at Southwest Texas State University in San Marcos. After this he worked and retired in 2005 from the Staff of the University of Texas, Department of Annual Reports and Grants.

Ralph was an avid Longhorn fan and followed the football games with avid interest and participation during each season.

Ralph is survived by his wife Patsy and was preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Mary and by and his brother Danny. Ralph was loved by his family and friends and it was said that “he was the glue that kept them all together.”

His life, spirit, friends and family will all be remembered. He was a dedicated Christian and is now starting his eternal life with the Lord Jesus Christ.

Due to the current Covid health crisis, a private burial will be held at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Burnet.
