Born February 21, 1930, in Woodsboro, Texas, to Thomas Fletcher Stanberry and Juanita Webb Stanberry. Richard grew up in Corpus Christi, Texas. At age 18 he joined the USAF from 1948-1952 and was part of the Berlin Air Lift. He earned a BS in Chemistry at the University of Houston.

On April 16, 1955, he married the love of his life Wanda Lee Stanberry, they had five children. They resided in Pasadena, Texas, where he worked for 30 years at Lubrizol until his retirement in 1992. They moved to Burnet, Texas, where he started his love of woodworking, such as building farmhouse tables and beautiful cabinetry.

Richard was a Deacon at Central Church of Christ in Pasadena, Texas. He was a member of Oaks West Church of Christ in Burnet, Texas.

On June 12, 2010, he married his high school sweetheart Anne Wilson Stanberry, reuniting after 62 years. They enjoyed 10 years of marriage together.

Richard is preceded in death by his wife Wanda Lee Stanberry, son Roy Randolph Stanberry, daughter Debra Joy Stanberry and son Richard Thomas Stanberry Jr.

He is survived by his wife Anne Wilson Stanberry, daughter Karen Sue Culp (Jay), daughter Kelly Lee Trusky (Chris), grandchildren Mindy (Brian), Debra, Sara (Christian), Emily (Forbes), Thomas (Alyssa), Matthew, and 4 great grandchildren (James, Reid, Emmett, Griffin), brother Ronald Stanberry (Sue), sister Joy Dean Clark (Bubba) and many other friends and family.

Care has been entrusted to Clements-Wilcox Funeral Home in Burnet.
