Ronald Dale Johnson, 76, got his promotion to Heaven on June 11, 2020.

Ron was born in Roswell, New Mexico on April 1, 1944, the first of two children born to AJ and Dorothy Johnson. While serving his country in the Army National Guard, he met the love of his life, Dorothy Louise Metze (Dottie), in San Antonio, Texas. They married in 1965 and moved to Austin, where they had three children, Terry, Tamara and Tate.

In 2006 Ron and Dottie moved to Burnet, Texas to retire. There they became members of Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church. Ron loved to fish, but even more, he wanted to be a fisher of men. He was outspoken about his faith in the Lord, Jesus, and wanted every person to have the opportunity to know Jesus as their Savior. He had a special place in his heart for the downtrodden, which drew him to the Patriot Warrior Foundation Dove Hunt, where he could love on our wounded soldiers, and the church’s prison ministry, where he could share the good news with those who may otherwise never hear it.

Ron is greatly loved by his children, Terry (and Carmen) Johnson, Tamara (and Roy) Thompson, and Tate Johnson as well as his grandchildren Jessica (and Brandon) Canady, Clay Johnson, Joshua (and Emily) Thompson, and Chelsea Johnson. Ron was also blessed with two greatgrand daughters, Harper and Finley Canady.

Ron is also much loved by his mother-in-law, Dorothy Metze, his brother, Gary (and Terry) Johnson, their daughter McKenna Johnson, and her daughter Hadley.

Ron saw himself as an alien to this world and longed for his Heavenly home. If it was 10:30, he would say he couldn’t be ready much before 10:31. While he will be missed so much by family and friends, we have the joy of knowing that he is EXACTLY where he wants to be — in the arms of Jesus in our Father’s house. And we have the comfort of knowing we will see him again when we join him there. See you when we get there, Ron/ Ronnie/ Dad/ Papa Ron! A Celebration of Life

A Celebration of Life Service will be 11a.m. at Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church, 19135 Texas Hwy 29, Buchanan Dam, Texas; Saturday June 20, 2020.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make a donation to the Patriot Warrior Foundation Dove Hunt at PO Box 246, Burnet Texas 78611, or Chapel of the Hills Baptist Church at 19135 Texas Hwy 29, Buchanan Dam, TX 78609.
