It was another good week for Lady Dawg volleyball; the girls in green all took care of business this week. All three teams defeated Brownwood Tuesday night for a second time. That, followed with a clean sweep over the Lady Badgers in Lampasas Friday, makes for a pretty great week.

Bulldog inefficiencies grant Hounds the win

Even in a COVID pandemic the excitement was building in Burnet leading up to Friday’s Bulldogs versus the Boerne Greyhounds contest. Football fever was the only thing that seemed to be spreading through the stands but that wasn’t the case at field level.

Dawgs find challenging course at Thrall

The Bulldog cross country teams, both high school and middle school levels, traveled to Thrall on Saturday. Despite the challenge of a very hilly terrain many of Burnet’s athletes improved their times and in the group standings all of Burnet’s teams placed in the top three or higher.

Not all pretty, but it’s all good

I’m going to start with the varsity Lady Dawg volleyball team. These ladies have had some set-backs and dropped a few matches along the way that they wish they could redo, but our Lady Dawgs took care of business against a quality Brownwood Lady Lions team Friday to add a nice W to their resume.

Dawgs 2-0 after win over Gonzales

The varsity Bulldog football team is sitting at 2-0 now on the season; the latest victim was the Gonzales Apaches who fell to the Dawgs 29-21 on Friday night. It was a lengthy trip for Burnet fans, but their Bulldogs didn’t let them down.

Lady Dawgs sweep Brownwood

The Lady Dawgs’ most recent contests were held Friday night on the road at Brownwood. All three of Burnet’s teams defeated the Lady Lions to improve their records. The varsity girls tallied a 3-2 win against a quality team. Burnet dropped the first set, 22-25, won sets two and three 25-23, but came up short in the fourth game 20- 25 to force a set five. That game also turned out to be close with the Lady Dawgs edging out Brownwood 15- 11 for the match win.

Dawgs ‘FEAST’ on medals

The BHS cross country teams traveled to San Antonio on Saturday to compete at the FEAST meet. As a team the girls placed fourth overall and the boys took sixth. Medalists for Burnet included Hudson Bennett, who finished first in his session with a 16:40; Andy Urista placed ninth with a 17:49; and Rose Flores crossed the finish line in third with a 13:01.

One day at a time

Most already know I lost my dad last week; I also lost one of my best friends with his passing. He meant the world to our family and was the constant rock and center of our world that anyone could lean on.

Big wins for Bulldogs sports teams

There have been a number of activities happening in Burnet in the sports world. The volleyball program has more than a dozen games tallied this season, tennis has had a couple of opportunities to shine on the courts and football officially kicked off their campaign this week.
