Dawgs begin spring tennis play

On Thursday of last week Burnet’s tennis athletes returned to the courts for their first spring tournament. The Dawgs hosted San Saba in a dual match format, winning 12-7.

Zaida Freeman and Annika Van Zandt won their match 8-1. Also, in doubles play Lainey Rye and McKenzie Davis earned victory, 8-3; as did Tatum Salinas and Will Gregg in mixed doubles, 8-0.

Singles play victories were recorded by Freeman, 8-3; Van Zandt, 8-1; Salinas, 8-1; Rye, 8-3; Davis, 8-3; Kendall Bible, 8-3; Renzo Miller, 8-7 (7-5); Cameron Stires, 8-6; and Devin Fetterson, 8-6.

It was a fantastic showing for the Dawgs in their first spring outing.

Burnet will participate in a Llano tournament this week with the varsity playing on Wednesday and the JV on Thursday. They will be at Canyon Lake on Friday, Feb. 5 before returning to their homecourts on Thursday and Friday, Feb. 11-12.
