Despite having their district games cancelled this week the freshman and JV Dawgs managed to each get in a game with reschedules against Liberty Hill and Georgetown East View. The undefeated Burnet freshman team kicked things off first hosting a large Liberty Hill Panther squad.

Burnet jumped out to a 14-0 lead after two first half scores. The first came by way of a Grant Jones to Will Johnson 28-yard touchdown connection. Jones completed the two-point pass to Brayden Hill putting Burnet up 8-0.

The Bulldogs second score came on the heels of Trenton Park who broke loose for a 49-yard rushing score. The conversion failed leaving Burnet up 14-0.

With just seconds remaining in the first half Liberty Hill scored making it 14-8 at the break.

Burnet’s defense did a great job shutting out the Panthers in the second half.

The Dawgs posted one more score on another Jones to Johnson connection, this one from 24-yards out. Gilbert Valdez punched in the two-point conversion and the Dawgs claimed victory, 22-8.

The freshman boys are currently 8-0.

The JV Dawgs defeated Georgetown East View 26-12 in non-district play.

Tanner O’Hair found wide receiver Greyson Blair from 44-yards out for the Dawgs first score in the opening period, 6-0.

In the second Burnet increased their lead to 14-0 on a 9-yard Jose Rodriguez run followed by a two-point conversion supplied by O’Hair to Blair.

East View got on the board next with a 58-yard pass to bring the score to 14-6.

Before the half ended O’Hair went back to work through the air, this time finding receiver Moses Delu na from 27-yards out for a Bulldog touchdown, 20-6 at the break.

In the third East View inched a little closer with a 35-yard fumble recovery for a score making it 20-12 with the fourth quarter remaining.

The Dawgs capped the game’s scoring with a 12-yard Evan Reeves rushing touchdown brining the final to 26-12.

Burnet’s defense was led by Kurt Kassner, James Glaspy, Riley Hubbard, Ian Cantrill, Coyt Barrow, Ty Combs, and Anthony Perez. Glaspy recovered a fumble for the Dawgs, and Garrett Messer caused another Georgetown fumble that was recovered by Blair.

The offense was led by the running of Rodriguez and Reeves with big thanks to Dalton Orrison, Knox Ward, Cameron Stires, William Randles, Jose Lopez, and Caleb Maynard.

This Thursday the freshman will host Leander Glenn while the JV will welcome Dripping Springs to town. Both are non-district contests.
