Dawgs find challenging course at Thrall

Hudson Bennett earns third-straight gold with 17:06

The Bulldog cross country teams, both high school and middle school levels, traveled to Thrall on Saturday. Despite the challenge of a very hilly terrain many of Burnet’s athletes improved their times and in the group standings all of Burnet’s teams placed in the top three or higher.

At the high school level Burnet’s varsity boys took third overall, while the Lady Dawgs team placed second just behind Caldwell.

In the middle school ranks the Burnet boys placed second as did the Lady Pups.

Hudson Bennett was the overall boys champion with an impressive time of 17:06. That victory was Bennett’s third gold finish of the season in as many weeks. Also leading the varsity boys was Andy Urista who placed sixth individually.

On the varsity girls side Rose Flores finished fifth with a time of 13:38 and Cierra Blunt-Culpepper had her best finish of the season crossing the finish line for Burnet in 13 place.

In the JV girls race Hay lie Bartlett finished in sixth place overall.

At the middle school level Burnet’s top male runner was Victor Aviles in third with a 12:23. On the girls’ side Burnet had two athletes place in the top 10 including Halee Maxwell, fourth, 14:15; and Marissa Aviles, eighth, 15:20. Other individual results
