The Green Wave hosted their ninth tri-meet of the season on Friday at the Burnet YMCA. Burnet’s swimmers only have one meet left in the season before the District 17-5A meet which is schedule for Jan. 22 for diving and Jan. 29 for swimming. Burnet swim coach Stephanie Pegues noted recently that her athletes have been working hard and are right where she wants them on the brink of district competition. “We have been training extremely hard lately getting in 4,000-5,000 yards each day for the last two weeks,” said Pegues. “Everyone looked strong in our latest meet and we are right where we need to be as we go into our taper for district championships at the end of this month.”

On Friday the Dawgs competed against Dripping Springs, Fredericksburg, and Marble Falls. As a team Burnet placed third; the girls took second and the boys third as individual groups.

“Even though we were missing a few team members this evening we still competed well and swam our hearts out,” said Pegues.

In the combined team scores division Dripping Springs took first with 1475.5 points. Fredericksburg was second; Burnet, third; and Marble Falls, fourth.
